You will also be able to fully participate in the free time activities of the service users, such as gardening, art-therapy, memory training, letter writing, trips, training in how to use electronic devices, money management and other educational activities. During the whole period of voluntary service, you will cooperate with social workers and workers in social services.

Events throughout the year:

During the year you may accompany service users to special cultural events, such as concerts, theatres, cinemas etc. If you have a gift for music, people in the placement will gladly join you in singing or playing for or with service users. The placement sometimes prepares an event for the wilder public or workers as an opportunity to create a space where they can speak and discuss topics which create better understanding of this particular group.

Growing through challenges:

  • Barrier communication, because clients do not speak English. Fot the first weeks you will have to communicate by your hands and feet. You need to find alternative ideas for communication, such as using pictures or photographs.
  • You will get to know the work with this group of people, as well as learning specific methods for working with adult with disabilities
