A Cup of Turkish Coffee, please!

Buse is a volunteer in Siloe, home for elderly people with memory disorders. Let's find out more about her mini project.

"I did presentations about my country. One of them was about to create general impression about me and my country and other one was about different funny traditions. I really enjoyed preparing these presentations and they also seemed enjoyed. Because they asked questions and they laughed a lot to funny traditions." Buse

"One of the most widely-known customs is when Turkish coffee is dosed with large spoonfuls of salt and served by the bride to the groom. The custom is seen as both a test of the groom's demeanor and a symbol of the fact that marriage is not always sweet. If the groom is able to finish the cup of coffee without displaying displeasure at the taste, it is believed that he has a good temperament. It is kind of a test for him and it is hard to drink that coffee with a lot of salt. It's really fun for other people to watch them struggling I guess." laughBuse
