Unai´s volunteering experience in Effatha Karviná!

"For the past 11 months, I’ve volunteered at Effatha Karviná, a social therapy workshop in the Czech Republic. The center supports adults with mental and combined disabilities, helping them develop skills, connect with others, and enjoy a structured daily routine.

My role was to spend time with them, assist in daily activities, and join creative workshops - like pottery, basket weaving, and art trips to Ostrava 🎨. These moments brought joy, new skills (I couldn’t even sketch before!), and a deeper understanding of mental health.

One challenge was the language barrier, but it taught me to adapt and communicate beyond words 🌐. The experience also allowed me to travel across Europe, meet amazing people, and share this journey with a dear friend.

I leave with gratitude, friendships, and a stronger desire to work in social care and keep making a difference 🙌"
