The mission of the placement:

SAS Krnov supports families and children in long-term difficult life situations, which they are not able to deal with by themselves without help. These situations can affect relationships in the families and on the upbringing and development of children.

Activities:

Your work is mainly concentrated on the children or the children and their families. You  spend time with the users that are filled with creative work, artistic activities, movement activities, or playing board games, teaching foreign languages or other subjects, helping with homework and school assignments, organising prevention programmes and presentations about your home country, culture etc. You will have space to carry out your own prevention programmes dealing with various topics and you are encouraged to introduce your home country, culture and traditions (including education, food, sports and leisure time activities, and famous cities) in a presentation.

Events throughout the year:

You will help to plan outdoor activities, walks, excursions, culinary sessions, Christmas or Easter parties. The opportunity to learn and understand specific methods applied in work with the young people. You will learn the importance of a personal approach, building mutual trust, confidentiality, respect and the no charge policy of the Centre.

Growing through challenges:

  • Be willing to learn the Czech language because most Centre users do not speak English. Be open to findother creative options for communication.
  • Helping children with preparation for school and supporting them in different school subjects which will requires specific knowledge, patience or ensuring they have the information needed.
  • Being empathic, but not ‘feeling sorry’ for the Centre users.
