The objective of the school is to ensure high quality education for children and young adults with special educational needs, by providing a personal approach with the help of modern teaching methods. activities:

You will learn about working methods and use them in a practice (positioning, relaxation, helping with feeding, aiding students during performances, teaching, snoozelen, music therapy, canisterapie) and learn how to use the aids in working with students (tablets, light column, chimes). You will be involved in music therapy (active, relaxing), playing drums and natural rhythmic musical instruments (guitar, djembe drums, rain sticks) and reading books. You will participate in art based therapeutic activities (to create decorations according to the season). You will also participate in projects such as “Sports and Dance to Health”.  You will accompany students by walking in nature. You will cooperate with teachers and assistants and become familiar with alternative forms of teaching.

Events throughout the year:

The school is closely cooperating with the local church. During Christmas or Easter, students and teachers prepare a performance of songs with bongos and bells. Twice a year, the school organises a “Cafe for Parents” where students and their parents meet with the staff of the school and volunteer over a cup of coffee and a programme prepared by their children.  The school is also cooperating with the city of Český Těšín. They prepare cafe meetings for them. The school also participates in events like Saint Nikolas or Christmas concerts where they prepare programmes with students for the public.

You will get an opportunity to present your life in your country, traditions, culture, food and habits during these events.

NadpisGrowing through challenges:

  • The biggest challenge is to gain a better understanding of yourself and a willingness to work though providing a service to students who are part of a difficult group - they differ in their appearance, behaviour and thought from the general population.
  • Students do not speak English; some do not speak at all.
  • The challenge is to maintain healthy attitudes towards students (without prejudice, regret, resistance)
  • Managing changes in the workplace (teaching organization, grouping students), you may be in 3 classes, as needed, within one day.
